Housing, Food Services & Residence Life: Berks

Campus History

In 1958, Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute joined Penn State University and become Penn State Berks. The campus is situated on 241 wooded acres in the rolling hills of Bucks County, an area rich in history and scenic beauty. The city of Reading is two miles south of campus and is often called the “Outlet Capital of the World.”

Living Environment

Over 800 students live on campus at Penn State Berks. The Village Suites residence area consists of six buildings that offer four bedroom suites, each with two private bathrooms. Each building provides study and television lounges. The Woods Houses residence area consists of seven houses that offer single and double room suites with semi-private bathrooms. The Woods features study lounges and one centrally located lounge.

Dining on Campus

Tully’s is a full-scale food court and is just a short walk from your residence area. Tully’s offers an extensive menu, including grilled specialties, fresh pasta, soups and sandwiches, hearty entrees, a large salad bar, daily specials, and convenient grab 'n go items. All menu items are prepared by our food service professionals and are available for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late evening snacks.

The Cyber Cafe, located in the Thun Library, offers coffee house favorites like specialty coffee drinks, pastries, desserts as well as snacks, sandwiches, and other menu items. The Cyber Cafe is a great place to grab a quick bite or surf the Internet between classes.

Social and Recreational Opportunities

Living on campus makes it easy to take advantage of nearby recreational areas, such as the athletic fields, tennis, and basketball courts. We are proud to offer seven club sports teams—including intramural programs for teams and individual sports. Also, the social life on campus is enhanced by more than 30 clubs and organizations, including student government, and Lion Ambassadors. Plus, every semester the campus often holds dances, movies, and guest speakers regularly.
