Campus History

The Penn State Schuylkill campus has a history that dates back to the Great Depression when the University adopted guidelines for what would become its Commonwealth Campuses. The town of Pottsville wanted to provide its citizens with a convenient location to achieve postsecondary education and the campus was born. Today, the campus offers a unique experience for Penn State students through its programs, activities, and degrees.

Living Environment

Students have several living options. Penn State Schuylkill offers students on-campus housing, as well as a listing of off-campus housing.

Campus Dining

The Hidden Stream Cafe is a full-scale food court that offers an extensive menu, including grilled specialties, fresh pasta, soups, subs, a pizza station, hearty entrees, a large salad bar, daily specials, and delicious desserts, as well as convenient grab 'n go items.

Social and Recreational Opportunities

There are several varsity sports teams on campus, as well as numerous clubs and organizations. Campus is a fun and exciting place to live during the semester. Students take part in many activities, concerts, shows, and events throughout the year.
